About Kathy Keen, Founder of The Keen Insider
With decades of experience researching TSA guidelines, airline policies, and international customs rules, I’ve made it my mission to help travelers—especially those flying with medications, medical gear, or chronic health conditions—navigate air travel with confidence and clarity.
Whether you take daily prescriptions, use a CPAP machine, carry injectables, or simply want to avoid unexpected issues at airport security, The Keen Insider is here to help you fly smarter—every step of the way.
I’m not a doctor, and I don’t offer medical advice or treatment recommendations.
What I do offer is something travelers often need but rarely find:
Clear, accurate, and real-world guidance on how to fly legally and safely with medications, medical devices, and everyday items that often trigger TSA or customs concerns.
I break down the fine print—so you can pack with peace of mind and avoid the delays, confiscations, and confusion that catch so many travelers off guard.

Hi, I’m Kathy Keen
I’m the founder of The Keen Insider—and someone who’s spent over 30 years creating health guides, drug safety reports, and travel resources that actually make sense. If you’re flying with medications, assistive gear, or mobility equipment, I’ve likely done the research to help you do it safely.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, I worked alongside doctors, pharmacists, and occupational therapists to produce plain-language health materials for hospitals and corporations.
During my time at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, I collaborated with adaptive equipment manufacturers, physical therapists, and patient care teams to evaluate real-world mobility and safety tools like standing wheelchairs and seat lifts. That hands-on experience shaped how I review products today—with a sharp focus on what actually helps people stay independent and safe.
Later, while supporting travelers for a luxury British airline, I collaborated with oxygen vendors, evacuation services, and global pharmacies to help passengers with complex health needs reach their destinations.
I also launched SeniorBenefitsGuide.com, a trusted resource for New York seniors—and spent years talking to older adults who felt overwhelmed by health systems and travel logistics alike.
All of this led to one clear goal: To help travelers stay independent, informed, and confident—whether they’re boarding a plane, packing a pill organizer, or figuring out which mobility scooter makes the most sense for their trip.
Why I Focus on Mature Travelers
You might recognize my name from my years with Sansabelt, where I helped loyal customers find comfort and confidence in their everyday lives. Over time, many of those same customers opened up about their travel worries—especially when medications, mobility aids, or airport security came into play.
That experience revealed a gap I’m now working to fill: clear, trustworthy help for mature travelers with health concerns.
Today, I write for:
- Adults managing chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, or low vision
- Caregivers helping someone else fly
- People who rely on oxygen tanks, injectables, or cooling devices
- Seniors using walkers, scooters, or canes when traveling
- Anyone who wants to avoid surprises at TSA or customs
What You Can Expect
Every guide I publish is rooted in direct research—not assumptions. I am in touch TSA agents, airline staff, and customs officials to verify changing rules. And I update my content often, so what you read today still holds true tomorrow.
My articles, downloads, and gear reviews help you:
✔️ Navigate TSA and airport policies with confidence
✔️ Prepare the right documents for international travel
✔️ Store, cool, and organize your medications the right way
✔️ Choose mobility tools that meet airline rules (and your comfort level)
Whether you’re visiting family across the country or traveling abroad with a medical condition, I’m here to help you make it easier.
Drawing on My Background in Mobility Solutions
Back when I worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, I collaborated with equipment manufacturers, physical therapists, and patient care teams to evaluate adaptive tools like standing wheelchairs, seat lifts, and transport chairs. That hands-on experience showed me how the right mobility equipment can restore independence, prevent injuries, and make everyday life more manageable.
Today, I bring that same insight to my reviews of travel-friendly mobility gear. From folding walkers to airline-approved mobility scooters, I focus on equipment that is lightweight, TSA-compliant, and suited for real-world use. I help you understand what features matter most when flying and how to avoid airline issues when bringing mobility aids onboard.
These reviews are based on hands-on testing, real traveler feedback, and in-depth product comparisons—so you can confidently choose tools that fit your needs and your lifestyle.
Making Travel—and Life—Easier to Navigate
